Heat and Le Tour
A good piece by William Fotheringham on the impact of the climate crisis on a race which is held throughout July in the south of France... not tbe best timing or location.
Alongside that is the need to time it for TV audiences meaning it starts around mid-day and goes through to mid afternoon (the hottest part of the day)... and involves cycling up thousands of metres of altitude and up to 200km...
The ways that riders coped with the heat in the past are no longer adequate.
